Sample Agenda
(Duration: 1 – 2 days)
Morning
The Problem Parking Lot & S.M.O.
We need to be able to get our problems out in the open if we are going to be able to overcome them, but a well-defined problem is half-way to a solution. We need to work out our problems and then make sure they are Specific, Measurable and Objective.
Reframing: The Art of Changing Your Perspective
– The ability to change our perception of events is extremely important in order to change your emotions, generate a higher quality of life, and lead our team to deliver better results. Negative emotions can “trap you inside” a problem. We can only begin effective problem solving once we have stepped “outside” the problem. By reframing, we actively look positively at what could be considered a negative situation.
Delivering Feedback in Asia with SBI2 Model
– Many expats in Asia can generate feelings of resentment and disengagement if they aren’t careful with the way they word their feedback. Situation, Behaviour, Impact & Inquire is a great way to structure many feedback messages to ensure that behavior change occurs. By focusing on what exactly the action was and when it occurred, how it impacted the situation and what they should do going forward ensures understanding.
Understanding Values: Positive Motivation through Values
– The development pipeline is an excellent tool for understanding when either yourself or a team member is stuck at a particular level of development. We take a look at whether it is a lack of awareness, motivation, ability (skills), practice opportunity or accountability that is holding back this individuals development in a certain area.
Afternoon
The Development Pipeline by David Peterson
– Communication often fails because we project our values onto others, assuming that they are the same as we are. By recognising the differences in what is truly important to you and your team members, you can generate a greater level of understanding and communication.
Coaching with The G.R.O.W. Model (Goal / Reality / Options / Way Forward)
– For coaching to be successful, we need to have a roadmap that we can refer to if we get stuck. By using the GROW (Goal / Reality / Options / Way Forward) Model, we can plan the best approach to a coaching session.
Essentials to Success with Board-Breaking: System, Mindset, Visualization
– To build confidence, the Board Break challenge is one of the most impressive and energizing experiences that you can have. We need to learn the three principles of “System,” “Mindset” and “Vision” in order to achieve our goals.
What are Values?
Values are things that we believe are truly important in the way we live and work. They act like our rocket fuel driving us forward to our goals. When our personal values are broken, we feel upset; when our personal values are met, we will feel really satisfied. Every argument you have ever had has been based on conflicting values.
How understand your Values helps you ?
By becoming more aware of your drivers in life, you can use your values as a guide to make more sustainable and satisfying decisions in any situation.
How Values help you with other ?
No. 1 mistake in managing and motivating others is to do so projecting your own values, instead of theirs. Understanding your team-members underlying drivers will help you communicate with and motivate them much more effectively.
